What it does

The Network Visualizer is an interactive browser-based tool for exploring, analyzing, and visualizing relational data in real time. It is designed for researchers, practitioners, and students who want to uncover structural patterns, measure key centrality indices, and detect community clusters without installing complex desktop software.

How to use it

  1. Prepare your data: Prepare your network ties as a list of relationships, one row per pair of connected entities (source, target, weight). Optionally, prepare a second attributes file for node types, custom sizes, or colors. You can also type or paste data directly using the Manual Input tab.
  2. Load or upload your files: Drag and drop your CSV files into the Data Input area, or click Load Sample to explore the historical Padgett Florentine Families alliance network.
  3. Choose how to colour and size the nodes: Run the Louvain algorithm to partition the network into modular communities and color nodes accordingly. Use the Centrality menu to size nodes by Degree, Eigenvector, or Betweenness centrality. You can also drag any node manually to pin it into an optimal position.

Your data

Your network ties should be formatted as standard comma-separated values (CSV) containing at least source and target columns. Optional attributes can include id,label, type, size, color.

100% Client-Side Privacy: All network parsing, centrality calculations, and physics simulations run entirely inside your browser. No data leaves your computer, and nothing is ever uploaded to a remote server or third-party database.
