Leonardo Rizzo Earns PhD in Network Science and Joins SDA Bocconi Faculty
After successfully defending his PhD dissertation in Network Science at Central European University, Rizzo joins the Bocconi faculty, building on his work with the Network Innovation Lab.

Leonardo Rizzo has successfully defended his dissertation, Network Structures and Innovation Dynamics, and been awarded a PhD in Network Science by Central European University (CEU). Following his defense, he joins SDA Bocconi as an Assistant Professor of Practice.
The defense committee included Mark Wittek (chairperson), János Kertész (supervisor), Leon Oerlemans of Tilburg University, and Guido Fioretti of the University of Bologna.
Rizzo’s research examines how networks shape innovation, coordination, and performance in organizations. His dissertation brings together empirical network analysis, agent-based modeling, and methodological work to explore how patterns of interaction influence the generation and selection of ideas.
His connection with the Network Innovation Lab at SDA Bocconi has been an important part of this work. As a collaborator on lab projects, Rizzo has contributed network analysis of organizational and performance data, applying network science to questions relevant to organizations.
Now, after defending his dissertation, Rizzo joins the Bocconi faculty. His appointment marks a new chapter in his work at the intersection of network science, innovation, and management.
